It’s Christmas! Well not yet, but we’re almost there. I love this season because London becomes a happier place, even though the weather is frightful. The city is sparkly with lights and all the tourist spots are decorated accordingly.
My favourite thing about this time of year is the food! There have always been and always will be countless dining options in the UK’s capital, but I am extra excited to eat out in December, having brunch or dinner with friends or your partner.
Covent Garden is one of my favourite places to visit in London any time of the year. It’s a wonderful area and there are many restaurants to choose from.
Inside the Market Building, you’ll find quaint, petite and French Chez Antoinette. My Portuguese amiga first took me there back when my dairy allergies weren’t so strong and I could still have a sneaky apple crumble (it was delicious).
Upon return, I struggled to find something that I could indulge in whilst catering to my dairy-free needs. And don’t ask me why I couldn’t have just had a salad. It wasn’t that kinda day.
My friends and I settled for open-faced sandwiches. I had the duck confit, with apples and spring onions. The duck was tender, mouthwatering and seasoned to perfection. I loved the blend of savoury, but the tease of sweet in my mouth. I just live for good food! This was an after-work meet-up, so a light dish was just enough for me.
That was my second time at Chez Antoinette and I would go again. The staff are polite and if you love France you’re going to adore the vibe, especially during Christmas time. I just hope they’ll get with the programme and add more dairy-free friendly options to the menu.
Have you been to Chez Antoinette?
