Dairy-free Discovery: The Coconut Collaborative

I’ve been led to find dairy alternatives out of necessity. When my body rejected milk, I found oat milk. When I began to crave ice cream, I needed something just as sweet to satisfy my craving. Now different circumstances forced me to find an alternative yoghurt to enjoy.

Story time:
Someone burnt toast at my workplace causing the fire alarm to go off, the building to be evacuated and the fire brigade to show face. So dramatic for burnt toast, right? This all happened on my day off, so I heard about the dilemma the next day.

When it was discovered that the entire building did not in fact have a licence to operate toasters (yes, it’s a thing 🙄), all toaster/bread rights were revoked and replaced with yoghurt, granola and other healthy tidbits.

I didn’t mind that at all, except that the alternatives provided were made with soya, which I’m allergic to, or the small quantity of plain coconut ones would get snapped up in a second. When I encounter issues like this, rather than complain that nothing is left for me or my needs are never catered for, I deal with them myself. Be a problem solver. 😉

I got online and started searching for all the dairy-free yoghurts that were available in Tesco, which led to me finding The Coconut Collaborative.

I’d describe myself as a colourful person. Who’s got time for plain and boring? 😆 I love exotic flavours so mango and passionfruit was perfect! Since coconut is the base flavour, you taste that first before the mango and passionfruit comes through, but you get used to it. Plus, it has little mango bits, and the texture is deliciously creamy.

I’ve been having my Coconut Collaborative yoghurt with a mixture of granola, pumpkin seeds, banana chips, coconut flakes or dried cranberries most mornings at work. I do have to take it easy though, because I can get quite tired of eating the same thing over and over.

    Hi Michelle! Funny yet dramatic story about the toast! I used to wish for fire drills during school, maybe this gave some of your co-workers an extra break. Your dish looks delicious! I’m surprised to hear that this one was creamy. My experiences with some other non-dairy yogurts have been tasty but runny. I’ll take a look to see if this brand is available in the US.

      Haha I used to wish for fire drills during school too! … Defo have a look and see if it’s available. It’s definitely not runny at all. 🙂
