By now, it is common knowledge that I adore ice cream. I cannot live without it. Seriously. I can easily finish a box of vegan magnums in a day, although I don’t do things like that anymore – self-discipline and all that. 😌
As oat milk is my preferred alternative and Oatly is my favoured brand above all, I could not have been happier when my sister-in-law sent me a picture of Oatly’s vegan chocolate fudge ice cream in Tesco. I have bought it four times since then, and there is a tub in my freezer right now.
The great thing about oat milk is that it doesn’t have a strong taste like almond or coconut, so it is the perfect base. This ice cream tastes just like dairy chocolate ice cream. It is also satisfyingly creamy!
It has chocolate sauce down the centre of the tub and vanilla fudge bites throughout, but oh my goodness does it taste heavenly. It is soft and melts in your mouth. I’m one of those weird people who bites my ice cream but not with this one! The flavour must be savoured, so let it linger on your tongue and allow your senses to carry you away for the five seconds it takes to melt, before you relive the experience all over again.
I have to be very careful with this ice cream. It’s dangerous, I’m telling you. The only downer is the price (£4.50) for which, I think, the tub is too small. Other than that, there are no other cons in my book.
I plan to enjoy this ice cream with some warm double chocolate chip cookies from The Good Cookie. Yep, I ordered from them again, and I cannot wait to put this desert dish together.
Have you tried Oatly’s vegan chocolate fudge ice cream?
