It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these posts, but I hadn’t found anything worth raving about. I’ve mentioned before that I’m always on the hunt for dairy-free/vegan sweet treats to tantalise my tastebuds, especially when I crave something specific that isn’t within my reach.
Vegan cookies are not as accessible as they should be. You can certainly find vegan cakes everywhere now, but cookies still aren’t as popular. I’ve tried to bake them, but I’m just not that good. I’ve tried Pret’s vegan dark chocolate and almond butter cookie, but that’s taking a risk because I’m allergic to almonds. I’ve also ordered from Instagram, but the one I trialled wasn’t great, otherwise I would have written about it #justsaying. 👀
Well, it pleases me to say that I have finally found dairy-free cookies that pass the ‘Michelle taste test’ in every way. Introducing The Good Cookie!

Instagram is an amazing way to discover small businesses, and I use it as my main source for finding vegan/dairy-free goodies. I saw The Good Cookie on someone’s Insta Stories a while ago, but only just ordered from them.
Not only are these cookies vegan and dairy-free, but they are also gluten-free, refined sugar-free, soya-free, and organic. They tick all of the boxes (even though gluten isn’t an issue for me). Plus, they don’t include any nuts that I can’t eat, apart from the pecan and chocolate chip flavour.
The taste and texture are amazing, especially since they are sugar-free! I chose the lemon and white chocolate cookies, 1) because I love anything with lemon in it, and 2) because I sometimes like to go for the unusual option. First of all, the cookies are melt-in-your-mouth soft and a little chewy, which I was not expecting at all; nowhere near as hard as your standard chocolate chip cookies from Tesco, which I detested even before I developed allergies! I definitely prefer soft biscuits and this one was heaven. The lemon comes right through, but I couldn’t taste any white chocolate. I didn’t mind that though, because the texture honestly surprised me.

The Good Cookie sells a variety of flavours, which is hard to find when it comes to vegan cookies. These include: double chocolate chip, peanut butter, chocolate and pecan, classic (simple chocolate chip), white chocolate chip, lemon and white chocolate, dark and white chocolate chip, and chocolate and orange.
I’m on the fence about the price. I ordered six cookies for £8.50. You also have a choice of 12 for £14.50, 18 for £20.50, or 24 for £26.50. Delivery is £4.85, so my total came to £13.35. I guess that’s for your order to arrive quickly, because I purchased them at 8.30pm and they came two days later. 👏🏾 Unfortunately, it’s a known fact that if you want to buy anything vegan/dairy-free, you have to be prepared to pay more for it. The price of vegan/dairy-free ingredients are costly, and businesses have to make a profit (psst, that’s why it costs more to have oat milk in your Starbucks latte. Yep, I asked). It’s just the way of things. 😔
I wish the cookies were slightly wider, but their density makes up for their size. One is an indulgent treat, which is fine for me because I have been watching what I eat during this lockdown.
So, would I order from The Good Cookie again? 100%! I will definitely try the other flavours and go for a larger batch. They would last me a while.

Have you tried The Good Cookie? Check them out on Instagram for mouthwatering images of their goodies. #temptation

I was actually surprised when my nephew brought a box of vegan cookies, I never thought they could taste that good. This cookie looks like a nice find.
